Leigh Torlage is co-choreographing The Wild Party. We talked to her a week away from the first preview (May 4) to ask how things are going.
SC: Did you know any of the cast before this?
LT: Yes, I’ve known Chris Shyer [director] for years. in 1992, we toured Europe together in the Broadway Musical West Side Story. I know Troy Mclaughlan (Phil) from Harbour Dance Centre – where we both teach. And I have been working with Mike Antonakis (Mr. Black) on my Rock Cabaret Show where he is learning the lead track.
SC: And of the 15 member cast, they’re all dancing.
LT: Yes, well, they’re all dancing to some extent.
SC: How many people had previous dance experience, how many are naturally picking up the moves, and who has two left feet?

Pint Size Tall Theatre Society is introducing itself with a sizzler of a show - the Michael John LaChuisa stage musical The Wild Party, based on Joseph Moncure March’s 1928 poem.
Opening May 4 at the ANZA Club and running throughout the month (May 4-9, May 12-16, May 18-21 & 23 and May 25-28), The Wild Party gathers some of Vancouver’s most talented movie, theatre and TV actors in a singing, dancing and drinking (okay, so the bourbon will really be ice tea – at least, until after the first act) extravaganza. Tickets are on sale through www.ticketstonight.ca.
